Last stop was St George Park in Bristol, a huge open space with multiple attractions, including a lake, sports courts, skatepark and play area. ECT has contributed £55k towards phase one of the upgrade of the John Deasy Play Area. The Play in St George Project Team is still fundraising for phases two and three which will see the whole area redeveloped. #TheLCF ... See MoreSee Less

The Bristol area has been closed to ECT for a couple of years now following the closure of Enovert’s Shortwood Landfill Site. The last few projects funded by ECT are coming to fruition now and it was great to see them finally realised. At Montpelier Park ECT contributed £25k towards new play equipment. The park is located in the centre of dense housing and is a real oasis. The chiefly wooden equipment has been designed to appeal to toddlers and older children and is already proving to be a big hit. #TheLCF ... See MoreSee Less

Last of the Weston visits was @Worle where ECT funded a project to upgrade floodlights on the centre’s 3G sports pitch and also replaced fixed goals and netting. As well as great outdoor sports facilities, the centre has a fantastic cafe, gym, pottery studio, dance studio and multiple multi-use rooms which are all in use daily. It was a hive of activity when I visited and I purchased some wonderful pieces of property created by the talented people at Banwell Pottery. #TheLCF ... See MoreSee Less

An energy project of a different type up next at Hornets RFC in Weston-super-Mare, where ECT awarded a grant of £45k towards a mega 50w solar panel installation. The club by its nature is a high electricity user. Now solar panels absorb energy during the daytime, storing it in a 20w battery which then powers the club in the evening. This model is reducing the club’s primary supply costs whilst reducing exposure to the precarious energy market. ECT has previously funded projects to kit out the club’s kitchen extension and to create accessible changing facilities for female members and visitors. #TheLCF ... See MoreSee Less

More lights for my next stop! Weston-super-Mare Association Football Club applied to ECT for a grant of £29,394 to contribute towards a £54k project to upgrade the floodlights at the club to LED fittings. The project is a continuation of the club’s plans to reduce its carbon emissions and lower its reliance on non-renewable energy. ECT has previously supported a £50k project at the club to fund solar panels and batteries. Both projects will help the club with its significant energy costs, enabling it to stay sustainable for its many it. #TheLCF ... See MoreSee Less

Another floodlights project! This time it was Winscombe Tennis Club who applied to ECT for a grant of £17k towards a project to install new floodlights for the club’s courts five and six. The courts enable the club to offer their facilities to other neighbouring clubs who have limited capacity and are also available to hire to members of the public. #thelcf ... See MoreSee Less
